Pedagogical Advisor/Lead Trainer: Kuo Jian Hong
Kuo Jian Hong is the Artistic Director of The Theatre Practice — the longest-running bilingual theatre company in Singapore. With more than 30 years of professional experience under her belt, she is also an award-winning veteran director, designer, storyteller, filmmaker and facilitator.
A true polymath displays excellence across multiple domains. Jian Hong’s works have received multiple awards including best director, best set design and best production for the young awards from the Life! Theatre Awards and the Best Telefeature award (1997) for the Singapore International Film Festival. She has also been invited to present her works in various international theatre and film festivals including Original Musical Festival Shanghai, World Stage Design Taipei, Asian Contemporary Theatre Festival Shanghai, Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival and San Sebastian Horror and Fantasy Film Festival.
In terms of her approach to corporate training, Kuo believes that theatre-based training is not merely role-playing or play-acting, but an especially effective tool to unlock the potential of one’s right brain. Right-brain training is applicable in areas pertaining to behavioural adaptation, change management, leadership development, storytelling and of course, imagination, adaptability and productivity.
From teachers at Berries World of Learning School and Loyang View Secondary School, to frontline staff at Intercontinental Hotel Group, BreadTalk Group and Timbre Group, Kuo has conducted theatre-based workshops for a diverse profile of participants. An empathetic listener, analytical thinker, and astute observer of human behaviours and motivations, she believes that there is no “one size fits all” approach when conducting workshops.
