A conundrum that we still face: Is the coffin too big? Or is the hole too small?
What should we do next?
Artistic Director of Hong Kong's Theatre Ensemble Jim Chim tackles Kuo Pao Kun's seminal monologue, Coffin Is Too Big For The Hole. It tells the story of a man tasked to oversee the funeral of his grandfather and his fight against government bureaucracy when the grand coffin is too large for the standard-size grave dug at the cemetery. Featuring three long-time Kuo collaborators, Chiam revisits the classic text through the exploration of the interplay between light, space and theatre.
Coffin Is Too Big For The Hole was presented as part of the Kuo Pao Kun Festival 2003.
